Benefits of Cross-Channel Ferry Travels

There are regular cross-channel ferry sailings that link England with Continental Europe. The ferry port of Dover is only 21 miles from France, which makes this a pleasant one and a half hour trip. The Dover-Calais route is one of the busiest ferry trips in the world carrying vehicles and passengers across the Channel.

Family or group trips to France can be made more affordable by using cross-channel ferries rather than using other forms of transportation such as flying. Instead of buying individual tickets for planes or trains the group can just board a ferry with their car or minibus and cross to Calais, then being free to travel to the many different European countries. Ferries also provide group travellers with the opportunity to transport more luggage, since they do not have to conform to the baggage regulations as they would with air transportation.

Cross-channel ferry travel can also be more relaxing for families and friends. Tourists have more time to enjoy their trip by taking advantage of the amenities and services provided by the ferry companies. They can have meals and drinks at the onboard restaurant, cafes, and bars, or browse and buy souvenirs at the shops on deck. Other activities for families and groups are also offered by most of the ferry companies on channel crossings, such as children’s disco’s and film shows.

There is also the added advantage of course that you can take in the view from the ship.  You can watch the famous white cliffs of Dover recede into the distance as you head off for a great holiday at your timeshare.
