London has a fantastic range of shops and historic sites to visit but the first-time tourist can be left wondering where to start. Central London is an ideal place to begin an exploration of the city owing to its accessibility from the Circle, Northern and Piccadilly tube lines. The tube provides a way of exploring the shops, night life and famous parks easily.
Starting on the Northern line, Camden Town has many craft and clothing markets where truly one-off items can be purchased. The legendary indoor market at Covent Garden is on the Piccadilly line. The market is not the only attraction in the area; there are many boutiques and cafés where visitors can shop or simply watch the passing parade.
Piccadilly Circus is full of high fashion shops, trendy pubs and night spots. A trip to Harrods in Knightsbridge or the classy boutiques of Oxford Circus should not be left out of a serious exploration of London. There are other markets to explore in iconic shopping locations such as Portobello Road.
